BasedBoys Minecraft Modpack

About the Modpack

This modpack includes a variety of mods that enhance the Big Succ™ experience and add new mobs, bosses, dimensions, and dungeons to your otherwise *yawn* vanilla Minecraft game. Explore new biomes, encounter unique entities, and craft new items.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download and extract the modpack from the ZIP file. You should see four folders when complete.
  2. Search "%appdata%" into your Windows search bar and navigate to your .minecraft folder.
  3. Drag in the mods, config, and resourcepacks folders from the modpack archive.
  4. From the modpack archive, open the Forge installer file and run the executable. Install forge for client.
  5. Open the Minecraft Launcher and go to the "Installations" tab. Click "New installation." Select the version titled "Release 1.19.2-forge-43.4.0."
  6. During or after creating the new installation, scroll down to the JVM Arguments section. There is a line that says "-Xmx2G" by default. This controls how much RAM can be allocated to Minecraft. You can check how much RAM is in your PC via Task Manager. Change the number on this line to change how much RAM Minecraft can use. I recommend making this number as large as possible (up to 16GB) to improve performance and stability, but leave at least 4GB of RAM for system processes. E.g., if your PC has 8 GB of RAM, make this line says "-Xmx4G". If it has 16 GB, make it "-Xmx12G".

Description

The modpack is an attempt to keep much of the general vanilla Minecraft feel while fleshing out additional, and often optional, content. The most immediately noticeable changes will be in worldgen and mobs. Tectonic, Oh The Biomes You'll Go, Towns and Towers, Yung's Better series, and more work together with Distant Horizons to completely transform exploration into a fun and entertaining experience (which might yield rare Artifacts). All biomes are populated with real animals as well as villager and pillager settlements. Build functional ships with Eureka and contraptions with Create! Additional "vanilla-like" enemies have been added, but be warned that some of them are intended to provide a continuing danger and challenge. There are also many optional bosses, some of which spawn in certain biomes/structures and others that need to be summoned. Multiple other dimensions are available, such as the Aether and Twilight Forest.

Many less-obvious QOL mods have been added to make everything manageable, including JEI (Just Enough Items), gravestones, TreeChop + Falling Trees, better horse controls, Xaeros Worldmap, a healthbar indicator, inventory profiles and management, etc. A slew of performance optimizers have also been chucked in to attempt to keep everything running, though be warned: when hosting a singleplayer world or your own server, chunk generation will absolutely slaughter your CPU. Good thing that's being handled by the server. 🙂
